ISSI is a mobile application created for everybody to have an equitable all-in-one platform for content streaming (live or recorded) while focused on deliver
In Guatemala there are no platforms that offer easy ways to charge for services, as well as people have a difficult time to schedule and manage their online time. The project consisted on creating a wellness platform that would permit the user to have access to online classes given by professionals that would allow them to grow professionally in a field of their choosing.
We Designed ISSI, is a mobile application created for everybody to have an equitable all-in-one platform for content streaming (live or recorded) while focused on delivering and connecting people through communities, it is built to create a genuine space for professionals to offer their services without the hassles of scheduling payment and tracking of results and engagement.
Since we had to design an app from scratch, I started with a mind map. Hearing what the clients wanted to achieve from the app and what where the most important points they were trying to get into the app. In order to understand what the main goals were and establish guidelines for the app to ensure consistent end-to-end implementation. After having finished the mental map, it was concluded that the most important things to include in the app was.
After conducting various interviews of about 32 people in Guatemala and asking them what type of platform would be useful for them in a day-to-day basis, we managed to create three user personas to keep the main target users in mind while designing the app
After researching types of platforms that were lacking in Guatemala, creating user personas and having various user interviews I dived straight into mapping the information architecture and wire framing. Keeping always in mind the needs of our user personas.
After having created the first wireframe design for the application it was shown to the team, it was decided to continue the interface design part of the process, since the whole team felt it really captured the objective of what the original idea of the app was intended for.
For the first design of hi-fidelity we kept in mind the wellness part of the app that we wanted to convey to the users as well as had inspiration from Guatemalan textile images that would represent a wellness dimension. The colors were meant to inspire calmness and friendly for the users.
After having created the first UI design for the application, it was shown to the team and users. It was decided that there wasn’t enough focus on creating a sense of community for the users, as well as the general design of the app felt “to slow paced and yogi” (one of the user group big comments). Also, the colors of the app where to neon and felt unfriendly. The design was not fulfilling the purpose of providing users with a safe space of personal and social growth. It was decided to have a complete redesign and have a different approach solving three problems.
